Halfday face to face classes in Bataan starting May 2

Samal, Bataan: For the protection of children against the hot weather, a public elementary school here,  as well as the whole school division of the province have rescheduled their classes beginning May 2, 2023 because of the hot weather.

Principal Maria Chona Villegas of the Calaguiman Elementary School in Samal said that from the whole day face-to-face classes, it was changed to halfday face-to-face in the morning and modular in the afternoon.

The new class schedule will last until May 31,2023.

She said that their classrooms have four to seven electric fans but still not enough to give comfort to the children against the heat in the afternoon.

A pupil was seen using her hand fan despite the six electric fans in her classroom.

“Napaka-init. Bago gawin ang desisyon na ito ay sinabi namin  sa mga magulang at sa buong school division ng Bataan ito ipapatupad,” Villegas said.

Under the provincial school division are the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Pilar, Orion, Limay, Mariveles, Bagac and Morong.

“Kailangang mag-ingat sa init at ang mga bata ay kailangan maligo at uminiom ng tubig para makaiwas sa sakit at siyempre sa mga sakit na dala ng init,” the principal told parents.

Ana Bugay said they were informed that beginning Tuesday, May 2, face-to-face  classes will be only in the morning. “Okay lang ang pagbabago dahil sa sobrang init.”

Bugay has a daughter in Grade 1  at the Samal South Elementary School in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Samal.
