Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2
Nueva Vizcaya launched the Project COMMUNICATE (Communicating Optimization
Measures for MSMEs through Understanding Necessary Information on FTLs &
Consumer-related laws; Advocating for complianT businesses & Empowered
Consumers) during a two-day event held from 20 to 21 June 2024 at Bayombong,
Nueva Vizcaya.
This initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and compliance of local businesses with
Fair Trade Laws (FTLs) and consumer-related regulations. It was attended by a total
of 18 Pharmacy managers and 11 vape shop owners from the municipalities of Solano
and Bayombong.
Provincial Director Atty. Michael Paggabao recognized the participants for their
continuous support of the activities of the agency, emphasizing that every
establishment must know the rights and responsibilities of both the consumers and
businesses.
DTI Region 2 resource persons discussed topics on Special Discounts for Senior
Citizens and Persons With Disability (PWDs), Consumer Rights & Responsibilities, the
No Shortchanging Act of 2016, and the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products
Regulation Act or Republic Act 11900.
Under RA 11900, the team emphasized the salient features of the law that must be
complied with by vape shop owners. Among the topics discussed were the
requirements for product packaging, health warnings, and selling limitations and regulations.
The VAPE Law holds great significance in promoting the safety and well-
being of the youth in Region 2 by enforcing strict guidelines on the sale and use of vaping products.
