MABALACAT CITY — Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon this Wednesday inspected the national road in this city and Bacolor, Pampanga to ensure that road works are halted to ensure smooth traffic flow during Holy Week amid high crude oil and gasoline prices.
Dizon monitored the completion of the remaining 60-meter last-minute patch work of MacArthur Highway in Barangay Mabiga to fix potholes that slow down vehicles.
He explained that if the road is in good condition and the flow of vehicles is fast, it will help reduce the consumption of crude oil and gasoline.
Dizon also checked the traffic flow on Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Bacolor together with members of the Highway Patrol Group to ensure that vehicles, especially trucks, would stop on shoulders to avoid disrupting the flow of vehicles.
Dizon said the PNP, HPG, LTO and DOTr will help to ensure that the roads are clear and citation tickets will be issued to motorists who do not stop on the shoulder for violating illegal parking and obstruction.
According to Dizon, the clearing of roads will continue even after the Holy Week in response to the high price of petroleum products.
