Delta to the rescue of displaced Fontana workers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda assured some 500 displaced workers of Fontana Development Corp. (FDC) and Fontana Resort and Country Club Inc. (FRCCI) in Clark Freeport of legal assistance in their claims for unpaid wages and other benefits.

Nearly 200 of the workers trooped to the Capitol on Feb. 3 to seek the governor’s help in what they called their “quest for labor rights and economic justice.”

FDC and FRCCI were shut down last Jan. 6, 2025 after the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) issued a cease-and-desist order against them “due to the numerous violations committed… including failure to meet financial obligations, non-fulfillment of commitments under the lease agreement, and non-compliance with the Fire Code and National Building Code, among others.”

The CDO immediately and indefinitely suspended “any operations of FDC and FRCCI, including all businesses of sub-lessees” resulting to the workers dislocation.

The delay in the workers’ salaries dates as far back as November last year, the workers claimed in earlier news reports.
