BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The provincial government of Bataan is intensifying programs on infrastructure, energy transition, employment generation, and social services to ease the impact of rising fuel prices and global economic uncertainties.
During the commemoration of the 84th Araw ng Kagitingan at the Mt. Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan, Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III said these initiatives aim to sustain economic growth while addressing the rising cost of fuel and basic commodities affecting Filipino families.
Garcia acknowledged that ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe continue to affect global economies, including the Philippines, contributing to higher petroleum prices.

“Even in our country, we already feel the economic impact of the continuous increase in petroleum prices, including basic commodities and other household needs,” he said.
Amid these challenges, Garcia emphasized that Bataan is implementing programs that promote livelihoods, improve mobility, and advance energy-efficient and environment-friendly systems in support of national government thrusts.
He said the province continues to strengthen its position as an industrial hub through the expansion of economic zones that generate employment opportunities for thousands of Filipinos.
With support from the national government, Bataan is also pushing infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and connectivity projects that enhance trade and investment.
The province is likewise improving ports and logistics corridors while promoting tourism as a destination for history, nature, and modern experiences.
As part of sustainable transport initiatives, Garcia highlighted the continued operation of the province’s electric vehicle (EV) fleet, which provides free transportation services to residents.
He also announced the opening of the Mt. Samat EV Transport System, which serves the Balanga City–Mt. Samat route for commuters and tourists.
EV pick-ups are likewise used by the Metro Bataan Development Authority for 24-hour patrol operations along major roads, improving government service efficiency.
Garcia said the province is expanding the use of solar energy in public facilities, including government offices, schools, and hospitals, while increasing EV charging stations through partnerships with the private sector.
He added that an extensive solar charging station will soon be established at the 1Bataan Command Center to support residents, traders, and businesses.
The governor also cited transport modernization efforts through the Transport Network Vehicle System, including EV Express and Grab EV services to improve mobility and commuter convenience.
Beyond infrastructure and energy programs, Garcia said Bataan continues to strengthen health, education, and social services to ensure inclusive development at the grassroots level.
He noted the recent visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to inspect a pre-fabricated classroom materials facility in the province, as well as the rollout of the Xepto Learning Management System for junior high school students.
“Bataan today stands not only as a symbol of heroism but as a vital partner in national development,” Garcia said.
He emphasized that these initiatives reflect a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, involving collaboration among the national government, local government units, and the private sector.
“In honoring our veterans and their families and in reviving the symbol of honor and resilience that they uphold, we wish to share with everyone that Araw ng Kagitingan is also a day of unity and action. We must once again reflect valor in striving to continue life amid challenges,” he said.
From a legacy of heroism, the provincial government of Bataan continues to advance development programs that strengthen communities and promote inclusive growth. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
