CAPAS, Tarlac (PIA) — Armor Division unveiled its newly upgraded assets.
It includes six Armored Combat Vehicles (ACV-300) and seven Repowered Simba Fighting Vehicles (SFV) which are equipped with modern communication, navigation, and weapons systems that provide close and immediate indirect fire support for maneuver units in the battlefield.
Army Commandin General Lieutenant General Romeo Brawner Jr. emphasized that the newly-upgraded and upcoming armor assets will bolster the Army’s capability to deal with constantly evolving threats and security challenges.
The ACV-300 has a maximum speed of 75 kilometers per hour with a 40mm automatic main gun, thermal imager, laser range finder and grenade launcher.
SFV, on the other hand, has a machine gun with a maximum effective range of 1,830 meters and maximum range of 6,800 meters.
Brawner likewise lauded the Armor Division for allocating funds for the upgrade of vital armor assets.
The test specifications, and test and acceptance procedures of the engine repowering for SFVs has a project cost of about P23.6 million.
More ground assets are expected to be delivered from Israel by the first half of 2023. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
