CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Former Vice Mayor Rainier “Kikang” Uy said Wednesday that he is hoping the water crisis in this city will be resolved the earliest possible time.

Many zones of Barangay Carmen, where he is currently setting as Barangay Chairman, is experiencing water crisis.

“We could only hope that this water crisis will be resolved soon. Many people are suffering from having no water in their respective faucets,’ former VM Uy claimed.

Uy was very thankful to note that Rio Verde, the original partner of the Cagayan de Oro Water District, is taking over COBI. “Manghinaut kita nga kining water crisis karon dili na madugay. Hinuon naay tubig pero dili gyud ana kakusog,’ he said.

TERMINATION
The Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc (COBI) has cut off water supply to COWD on Tuesday morning after a failed negotiation regarding COBI’s bill of P497 million, which COWD had earlier said “questionable.”

COWD maintain they are paying COBI regularly at the rate of 16 per cubic liter, and if there are increases, as supposedly stipulated in the contract, they are questioning it and wanted the court to resolve it.

Cagayan de Oro City mayor Rolando “Klarez” Uy assured the water consumers of the City that he would do everything to make water available to everyone, even if there is a standing warning from COBI to cut the services at anytime.

“Atong paningkamutan nga dili gyud mawala ang tubig kay luoy kaayo ang katawhan kung ugaling mahitabo man kana,” the mayor said in vernacular.

COWD General Manager Antonio Young has also shared his sentiment regarding the unscheduled water supply cut off.

Like mayor Uy, Young has also assured water consumers of steady water supply starting with this TRO and other legal remedies.
