Turn-over of Brown booby – Mindanao Daily News

A Brown booby (Sula leucogaster) was turned- over by the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) Cagayan de Oro City staff June Rey S. Gican to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Region X, Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City on March 8, 2023.

The said wildlife was found along the road by the residence at Mahayag, Barangay Agusan,
Cagayan de Oro City. The CLENRO personnel immediately rescued the wildlife and turned it over to the Office.

Forester Paulyn Mae Laranjo of the DENR X Enforcement Division facilitated the turn-over of the Brown booby from the CLENRO personnel. The said wildlife was temporarily placed at the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center for proper custody, safekeeping and medication.

The Brown booby is considered an endangered species under DENR Administrative Order No. 2019-09 or the Updated List of Threatened Philippine Fauna and is protected under Republic Act No. 9147, otherwise known as the ” Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.” (Jesha May N.
