Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines – Thousands of supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte gathered at Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro on March 16, 2025, for a prayer rally, according to estimates from the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The peaceful gathering was organized to express solidarity with Duterte, who is currently facing legal challenges at the International Criminal Court (ICC). Attendees prayed for his well-being and voiced their continued support, echoing similar rallies held across the country.
The event in Cagayan de Oro is part of a larger wave of demonstrations from Duterte’s supporters, who believe the charges against him are unjust. The former president remains a widely popular figure, particularly among those who credit him for his anti-crime and anti-drug initiatives.
In a separate but related event, the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) organized a National Rally for Peace in Cagayan de Oro on January 13, 2025. The gathering aimed to promote peace and unity, drawing thousands of INC members to Plaza Divisoria and its surrounding areas.
