MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)–The Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA)-Misamis Oriental held a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with 26 industry partners in Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City to enhance the competency of their learners through actual experience in the workplace as a method of complementing institution-based training, May 18.
“For several years, we have struggled with engaging the industry. We have struggled with the issue of the mismatch because of the way we train; the idea should be that what we train is based on the industry standards so that pag-abot dadto sa (when they’re in the) industry, they already know the basics,” TESDA-Misamis Oriental Provincial Director Marigold Cherie Garrido shared.

Through the MOA, TESDA Regional Training Center (RTC)-Tagoloan enrollees will undergo on-the-job training with various industry partners in relation to their vocational courses for a given period to ensure exposure to industry-based standards.
The MOA also aims to fix course mismatch and bolster employability among its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) learners by connecting trainees with potential employers.
Meanwhile, newly assigned TESDA-10 Regional Director Dan Navarro shared that he will continue to support his predecessor’s programs in the province, including a revitalized TVET program with industry partners. (PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
