CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Social Security System (SSS) Cagayan de Oro Lapasan Branch held a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing, March 20, with the Local Government of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, to commence the KaltaSSS Collect Program, which allows job orders that are not covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to have social security coverage under the SSS self-employed program.
Valentine Q. Viajar-Aunzo, branch head of SSS CDO Lapasan Branch, said they are intensifying the mandatory memorandum of agreement signing among municipalities under the jurisdiction of SSS CDO Lapasan Branch.
“With the programs of the Social Security System, the benefits that will be enjoyed by job order workers will also be the same with the other regular members of the SSS, like the sickness benefit, maternity benefit, long privileges like salary loan, calamity loan, educational loan, and long term benefits like funeral, disability, death, and retirement benefits,” she said.
She added that the coverage of membership is up to 60 years old only, and the minimum requirement for retirement benefits is at least 120 months of contributions.
“Kung miyembro naka sa SSS, once you have contributed at least one month contribution, then you are already a member of the SSS. Dili na mahikaw sa myembro ang benepisyo maski muhunong siya og bayad because the social security system, is a social legislation, it’s not an insurance corporation nga ma-forfeit imong contribution in case you can’t continue paying. But with SSS, even if you have contributed only one month, you can avail of the benefit,” she said.
(If you are a member of the SSS, once you have contributed at least one month’s contribution, you are already a member. The member will not be deprived of the benefit even if he stops paying because the social security system is a social legislation, it’s not an insurance corporation that can forfeit your contribution in case you can’t continue paying. But with SSS, even if you have contributed only one month, you can avail of the benefit)
Meanwhile, this is a system-wide project, being implemented mandatorily. All job order workers of local government units as well as the national government agencies, Aunzo said.
Rogelio N. Quiño, municipal mayor, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, said the aim is to make job order workers become members of the SSS.
(Our goal and desire is that our employees, especially those who are on a job-order basis, should be included in the benefits of the government, especially this SSS because they are not regular employees and are therefore casual and can benefit from the GSIS. Since the beginning, it is still happening, and I thank the SSS, our HR, and LGU management. We conducted the membership of our job order employees in a security service, in the SSS)
A total of 300 job-order workers in the municipality will benefit from the KaltaSSS project.
According to SSS, other LGUs are also finalizing their MOAs for this project. Nine other municipalities under the SSS CDO Lpasan branch include Balingasag, Jasaan, Villanueva, Tagoloan, Malitbog, Libona, Lagonglong, Claveria, and Salay. (JMOR/PIA-10)
