The Office of the President and the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) 10 co-presented by SM CDO DOWNTOWN and the SM Cares Foundation in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development 10, PHILHEALTH 10, Department of Health 10, City Health Office, JR Borja General Hospital, CLIMBS Cares, KVI and the Soriano Foundation kicked off the national celebration of Elderly Filipino Week in Cagayan de Oro City with a grand opening at SM CDO Downtown on October 2, 2023.
This year’s theme, “Honoring the Invaluable Legacy of Filipino Senior Citizens,” emphasizes the contributions of Filipino Senior Citizens in contemporary society.
The opening ceremony was attended by senior citizens from Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental organized by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs.
Part of the festivities of this celebration included the walk of life, which reflected the milestones and experiences that shaped the lives of our seniors. They also enjoyed a day of free medical checkups, eye care services, free reading glasses, and a joyful Zumba session.
The NCSC annually celebrates Elderly Filipino Week from October 1-7, 2023—a memorable celebration to honor our grandparents and commemorate their legacy with the community.
