MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)–The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental (PGMO) together with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cagayan de Oro City held its first-ever joint meeting of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), Cagayan de Oro City Peace, Development, and Security Council (CPDSC), and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) to bolster the province and city’s security status and anti-illegal drugs campaign at Mallberry Suites, Cagayan de Oro City, January 24.
Previously held separately, the provincial and city councils met for the first time to discuss ways to bridge the various challenges in their respective areas in order to strengthen and unify their policing activities.
“Naa’y mga hagit nga dili nato makural sa usa ka lugar, kung asa ang paspas nga kalihokan sa paglambo anaa diha ang dako nga hagit,” Cagayan de Oro City Rolando “Klarex” Uy said.
(There are challenges that we cannot contain in one place; where there is rapid development, there is also a great challenge)
Uy thanked Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia for working with him to fight illegal drugs, crime, insurgency, and illegal mining. He did this to show how important it is for different groups to work together.
The provincial and city councils laid the groundwork for how they will work together in the future. They also put limits on their own roles to keep them from overlapping.
Attended by national government agencies (NGAs), local government unit (LGU) chiefs, and partners in peace and security, the 58th Infantry “Dimalulupig” Battalion (58IB) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-10 gave presentations and updates on their campaigns.
“We have the same plan. We will be having the same plan in the next months to come, and we also have the same challenges. I am soliciting the active participation and cooperation among the members of these councils,” Unabia shared. (VPSB/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
