P6.8 MILLION SMUGGLED CIGARETTES SEIZED IN LANAO DEL NORTE

CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) successfully seized PhP6.8 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Brgy. Piraka, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte on March 16, 2025.

The operation was conducted by personnel from Sultan Naga Dimaporo Municipal Police Station (SND MPS), 2nd Lanao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd LDN PMFC), 1005th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), and the Maritime Police Station – Lanao del Norte (MARPSTA-LDN).

At around 10:00 PM, police operatives were conducting mobile patrol in the area when they discovered 170 boxes of assorted brand smuggled cigarettes, piled up in the areas between the shoreline and the national highway. Accordingly, residents in the area indicated that a certain individual known as “Acmad” might be the owner of the smuggled cigarettes.

The confiscated items were brought to the SND MPS for documentation and will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.

PBGEN JAYSEN C DE GUZMAN, Regional Director, PRO10, commended the operating units, emphasizing the PNP’s commitment to eradicating smuggling activities in Northern Mindanao.

“This operation demonstrates our unwavering stance against illegal activities especially on smuggled cigarettes across the region. We will continue to intensify our enforcement efforts to curb smuggling, and we urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” he added.
