Cagayan de Oro-The Food Processors Association of Northern Mindanao(FOPANORMIN) now partnered with the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) for food innovation,said Association President Craig Padla during a press Conference on Monday at City Information Office Studio here.
Fopanormin hold a press conference to inform the public of their 4 days Trade Fair this year, also popularly known as Tinagboan Festival on August 20 to 24 at Lim Kai Center Rotonda during Mall hours.
Padla explained that their objective for food innovation is not only intend to upgrade taste quality and packaging but on marketing and promotion as well.
Padla added that through the Department of Trade and Industry(DTI), FOPANORMIN were able to exhibit in the international market during Trade Expo.
One of the challenge of small food processors is to maintain and improve Good Manufacturing Product(GMP) set by DTI.
In this year’s Tinagboan Festival(Trade Fair), there are 24 exhibitors to conduct demonstration to viewing public for free and having free taste on finished product aside from displaying their respective products in their respective booth.
Padla said that this is the first time for Tinagboan Festival as among the 19 core events of Higalaay Festival,a mothlong festivity of the city.
Fopanormin is a brainchild of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) Region 10 in year 2000 and had converged Micro and Small Entrepreneurs in Northern Mindanao through lending equipments through loans while DTI is consistently conducting the Enhanced Business Trainings good for 3 months while the Department of Tourism(DoT) helping them in the field of promotions by having an opportunity to exhibit at different Trade fairs and Expo throughout the country and even abroad.
Fopanormin is very enthusiastic to announced that there are already 2 member companies who is now in the international market specifically in Zalora Online Store.These companies are Vjandep Pastel and Slers Sweet Ham while majority of their members now had their products being sold in nationwide market at Department stores,Shoppee and Lazada Online Stores.
Among the highlight of this year’s Tinagboan Festival is the launching of Christmas giveaways and the opening of Food Innovation Center at USTP on August 16 were they will hold office after the 4 days event.
