LTFRB, DOTr, and PDEA Region 10 Launch PUV Drivers Drug-Free Advocacy and Testing Activity

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Department of Transportation (DOTr), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 10 recently launched a Drug-Free Advocacy and Testing Activity for Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers at the covered court, Brgy 40, Cagayan de Oro City. The event was held with the theme “Kaligtasan sa Kalsada- PUV para sa Ligtas, Malinis, at Maayos na Transportasyon” (Road Safety- PUV for Safe, Clean, and Orderly Transportation).
LTFRB Regional Director Abusamen Matuan and PDEA 10 Regional Director Alex M. Tablate attended the activity, which aimed to promote road safety and ensure that PUV drivers are free from illegal drug use.
Objectives of the Activity:

  • Awareness and Safety: Raise awareness about the risks of illegal drug use on the road and promote safe driving practices.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that PUV drivers comply with regulations on drug testing and road safety standards.
  • Collaboration: Strengthen collaboration between government agencies and PUV operators to enhance road safety and promote a drug-free transportation industry.
    The activity aligns with the DOTr’s mandate to ensure the safety of passengers and drivers on the road. The DOTr has issued guidelines and regulations to promote road safety, including mandatory drug testing for PUV drivers.
