The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 10, in partnership with Coursebank, a leading Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) provider in the Philippines, is proud to introduce LAKIP. LAKIP, derived from the Bisaya term for “inclusive,” stands for Localized Accessible Knowledge and Inclusive Platform. It represents a comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS) aimed at providing a diverse range of courses thoughtfully translated into the Bisaya dialect. This initiative ensures that individuals from various linguistic backgrounds, particularly Cebuano speakers, can access and benefit from the learning materials.
LAKIP’s incorporation of localized translations is a significant stride towards promoting equal educational opportunities and fostering inclusivity. By removing language barriers that hinder individuals’ access to knowledge, LAKIP opens doors for a broader audience to engage in education. The platform’s acronym underscores its commitment to delivering accessible, culturally relevant, and linguistically diverse educational resources.
The introduction of LAKIP meets the regional demand for localized digital courses, catering specifically to the needs and interests of the local population.
To kickstart the platform, LAKIP will initially offer three Bisaya courses: Microsoft Productivity Tools, Navigating Google Workspace, and Canva for Graphic Design. These courses have been carefully selected to address practical skills that align with the digital landscape and meet the aspirations of the region’s learners. By combining relevant content with localized language support, LAKIP aims to empower individuals and communities in Region 10 by providing them with the tools they need to succeed in the digital era.
