CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO)-10, headed by OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, turned over more than P15,000 worth of vegetable seeds and fruit seedlings to Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) postgraduate interns (PGIs), February 27, at the DA-10 compound, here.
To ensure food security and promote urban gardening, the agency continues the seed and seedling assistance distribution with Collado, and High Value Crops Development Program focal person Kersten S. Pagalan turned over the 100 packets of veggie seeds and 50 pieces of rambutan and mangosteen seedlings to said recipients.
Also, this is in support of the NMMC PGIs’ efforts to improve community medicine through primary intervention on lifestyle changes and healthier food options. Carla O. Retirado received the provisions for this.
All of the seedlings will be given to households in Sitio Guinotang, Alubijid, and another group of interns will give out the seeds in the surrounding barangays, such as Sitios Guinotang, Loguilo, Babay, Talaba, and Lagtang, in an effort to fix up their community gardens. (DA-10/PIA-10)
