Court restrains COBI, from disconnecting water supply in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Monday, June 3, 2024, restrained the Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc. (COBI) from disconnecting or disrupting water supply in Cagayan de Oro City.

RTC Presiding Judge Jeoffre W. Acebido, of Branch 41, approved the writ of preliminary injunction restraining Metropac Water Investment Corporation, COBI, Rio Verde Water Consortium Inc. and all its agents from disconnecting water supply in Cagayan de Oro City.

The court issued the preliminary injunction just as the 20-day temporary restraining order (TRO) expired on June 3, 2024.

The preliminary injunction imposed a status quo, which allow the uninterrupted water supply to the more than 100,000 water subscribers in Cagayan de Oro City.

The court also ordered the COWD to post P 20 million bond to answer for any and all damages that the respondent might suffer with the issuance of the writ of preliminary injunction.
