Chavit Singson runs for senator; vows to help transport sector

SENATORIAL Aspirant Luis “Chavit” Singson has vowed to help the transport sector if given a chance to offer his brand of leadership as a successful politician and businessman for decades.

Singson filed his candidacy on October 7 as an independent candidate at the Manila Hotel after which a press conference was held.

In an interview with reporters, he said he is more than willing to help the transport sector by loaning them his own transport buses without hassles for the operators.

“Wala ng po-problemahin ang mga operators dito sa pa-loan ko dahil ang magbibigay ng guarantee ay ang mga mayors, governors, coops at ibang grupo sa buong pilipinas saan man sila naroon,” he said.

Singson has been going around the country announcing his project for the transport sector. “Lahat ng transport group ng buong Pilipinas ay nagpunta na po sa akin kaya magpipirmahan na kami at magsimula na ang mass production,” Singson announced.

Former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) for senator on Monday. Running as an independent, Singson expressed confidence in securing a spot in the Magic 12, believing that public awareness of his programs and plans would boost his standing in the polls.

Singson outlined two main objectives for his senatorial bid: modernizing the public transport system and establishing the Bangko ng Masa. He plans to finance the production of electric jeepneys using South Korean technology, offering them to qualified drivers with no down payment, collateral, or interest.

Additionally, Singson aims to address financial exclusion by creating the Bangko ng Masa, which would cater to Filipinos without bank accounts, especially overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). He pledged that every Filipino aged 18 and above would receive a debit card to promote financial inclusion.

LTOP National President, Orlando Marquez also announced the full support of the transport sector in the senatorial bid of Chavit Singson, adding that the former governor is a great help to the drivers and operators.

Marquez said Chavit is truly helping the poor as he wants to leave a legacy. The reason that he is now offering no down payment, no interest and 7-year payment plan for those who wants to avail of his transport vehicles.
