CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Barangay Carmen Chairman Joaquin “Kikang” Uy said Friday May 3. that the barangay trained a total of 150 volunteers for risk reduction program.
Uy said it’s not overnight but the training program is continuing until they have reach a good number of volunteer workers.
“At the start it was seem hard to train people to work thru volunteerism but I’m glad we were able to do it by zones,” Carmen barangay chairman Uy said.
“Dili man nato makaya sa barangay magpa sweldo kay limitado raman ang atong resources apan mapasalamaton kita nga namugna ang maong volunteer program,” Uy said.
QUICK RESPONSE
The barangay, Uy said, has two ambulances, two fire trucks and other equipment for quick response operations.
“Naa pud kitay quick response boat ug uban pang kahimanan. Kalooy sa ginoo minus naman pud karon ang mga katalagman so medyo nakapahulay ang atong mga volunteers.”
Barangay Carrmen is the biggest barangay of Cagayan de Oro in terms of population and area. It is also known as election bailiwick of the Uy’s during elections, it was learned.
