CCCDO Fights Fake News on Campus Development

By James Murillo Elaco

The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) is making progress on its new main campus, but false information is spreading online, misleading the public about the project’s details.

Officials confirmed that the campus will be built on government-owned land in Sitio Mangalay, Barangay Dansolihon, as approved by City Ordinance No. 14986-2024. The first phase of construction will include classrooms, dormitories, and essential utilities to support students and faculty.

To ensure transparency, CCCDO is working closely with the Local Government Unit (LGU) and various agencies. A technical team has been assigned to oversee the project, making sure it follows all legal and environmental requirements.

In a Facebook post, CCCDO urged the public to rely only on official updates and avoid spreading misinformation. Fake news about the project can cause confusion and unnecessary concern, potentially harming the school’s efforts to provide quality education to students.

The groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place this year, with the first phase expected to be completed in about a year. CCCDO remains committed to keeping the public informed with real and accurate updates while actively fighting the spread of false information. (JME/ONP)
