Khonghun seeks re-election as Zambales 1st District representative

IBA, Zambales – Rep. Jefferson “Jay” Khonghun of the 1st District filed his certificate of candidacy on Oct. 5 at the Comelec office here in a re-election bid to represent the people of Olongapo City and the Municipalities of Subic, Castillejos and San Marcelino.
“Itutuloy po natin ang pagseserbisyo sa mamamayan ng Zambales. Ito naman ang ating trabaho bilang kinatawan sa Kongreso, ang paglingkuran ang mga mahal nating kalalawigan upang mabigyan ng maayos na representasyon sa Kamara  at maipag patuloy ang mga proyekto sa imprastruktura, social services, scholarship at serbisyong medikal,” said Khonghun.


A proud member of the “Young Guns” in Congress, Khonghun ensured that vital resources were allocated for projects that directly benefit the 1st District of Zambales and its people, and his efforts have led to improved public services in the district, including better roads, school facilities and healthcare services.
Khonghun has in his belt a long and illustrious career in public service, starting as a Zambales board member from 2001 to 2010, mayor of the Municipality of Subic from 2010 to 2019, and vice governor from 2019 to 2022.
As a congressman, he is known for his active participation in crafting legislation that focuses on youth empowerment and anti-corruption measures, playing an essential role in ensuring that new ideas and dynamic reforms are incorporated into national legislation.
“Bilang isang lider, tungkulin kong pangalagaan ang tiwala ng ating mamamayan. Kasama ng ating pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng ating distrito ay ang pagbabantay sa pagmamalabis sa kaban ng bayan. Wala dapat lugar ang katiwalian sa ating pamahalaan,” he said.
Under Khonghun’s leadership, significant investments have been funneled into infrastructure projects, ensuring that the road networks, public facilities and social services in the 1st District of Zambales are continuously improved.
In seeking re-election, Khonghun vows to continue his fight for the betterment of Zambales, especially the first district.
