Comelec says Miru will be used for Eleksyon 2025

The Commission on Elections stood firm on its decision to use Miru Systems for the 2025 midterm elections despite the complaint lodged against Chairman George Garcia and seven others accusing them of manipulating the bidding.

“Ang importante at least dinala na sa proper forum [at] hindi po yung ginagamit social media, telebisyon, radio, dyaryo… parang courting public opinion,” said Garcia in a 24 Oras report by Maki Pulido on Wednesday.

(What is important is that they at least brought it to the public forum and did not use social media, television, radio, newspaper… like they are courting the public opinion.)

Comelec also revealed that the complainant requested a temporary restraining order against the P18-million contract with Miru Systems, but it was not granted by the Supreme Court.

“Kaya kami nagtutuloy-tuloy sa kasalukuyan at hindi na iimbyerna ang ating timeline,” said Garcia.

(This is why we are still proceeding currently and our timeline is not interrupted.)

Comelec is set to release guidelines for certificates of candidacy over the coming week.

It will also release a list of names of those running for all open positions nationwide on its website. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA Integrated News
