The upper portion of the southbound lanes of Kamuning Flyover is expected to reopen for motorists next month, the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) said Friday.
“Baka August mabuksan na natin ‘yung ibabaw,” DPWH-NCR Regional Director Loreta Malaluan told dzBB Super Radyo.
(We are expecting to reopen the upper portion of the flyover by August.)
“Ahead of schedule tayo kasi ang sinabi natin ‘yung pang-ibabaw… nung una ang sinabi natin mga October tayo matatapos. Pero inaasahan natin na before the end of August tapos na natin para mapadaanan natin sa ating mga behikulo,” she said.
(We’re ahead of schedule. We expected it to be completed by October, but we’re now expecting to finish it by August.)
Meanwhile, the retrofitting of the lower portion of the flyover is seen to be completed before the end of the year.
“’Yung ilalim naumpisahan na rin natin. We are expecting na before the end of the year, matatapos na natin ‘yun kasi may ilalagay na tinatawag na SP chain para sa earthquake preparation for the Big One,” she added.
(We started work on the lower portion. We are expecting to finish it before the end of the year and place SP chains in preparation for a possible massive quake called the “big one.”)
Malaluan said that next up for DPWH-NCR is the Magallanes Flyover which is set to have its expanion joints replaced.
“Kung mauumpisahan ng August…sa pagtatapos sa ibabaw ng Kamuning, inaasahan natin na ang unang kontrata niya ay March 2025 magtatapos but we’re expecting before the end of the year matatapos din natin,” she added.
(If it’ll start in August, we’re expecting it to be finished before the end of the year.)
