CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–February is Civil Registration Month per Presidential Proclamation No. 682. This year, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) spearheads the 33rd Civil Registration Month celebration with the theme, “PSA@10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation.”
This annual celebration is relevant as PSA continuously advocates for and supports the improvement of the country’s civil registration and vital statistics.
It reminds Filipinos of their duty to register important events in their lives, like births, marriages, and deaths, as well as decrees, legal instruments, and court orders that affect their civil status.
During the month-long celebration, the PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office 10, provincial statistical offices, and local civil registry offices in northern Mindanao will put on different events.
Among the activities are the hanging of streamers, the display of the civil registration month photo booth, lectures and trainings for city/municipal civil registrars and staff and PSA employees, a parade, Holy Mass, a civil registration quiz for PSA clients and the Select School, and an online civil registration quiz for PSA employees.
There will also be an infographics contest, an essay contest, a slogan and poster contest, an information drive, the 2nd Regional Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, participation in Kasalan ng Bayan, knowledge sharing on Civil Registration Laws and Memoranda, and consultations for PSA employees on civil registration issues.
