Authorities seized various high-powered guns at a house in San Juan City Friday morning after the alleged gun owner’s wife reported the matter to the police.
According to Marisol Abduhraman’s report on “24 Oras,” the suspect’s wife was also allegedly being abused by her husband.
The San Juan police raided the house in Barangay Balong-Balong at around 1:30 a.m.
The weapons seized included shotguns, assault rifles, pistols, and explosives such as grenades. There was also a case of Claymore mines and their triggers.
“Hindi namin in-expect na ganto kadami,” said San Juan City Police chief Colonel Allan Reglos.
The raid was launched due to a complaint by the suspect’s wife, who is now in the hospital, along with her 3-year-old son.
She was scared because of her husband’s guns and explosives, according to the police.
“They suffered physical abuse, pati daughter n’ya. Naka-confine po sa isang ospital. Nailahad ng wife kung ano ang mga abuses na nagawa sa kanya. ‘Yun nga po nabanggit doon na tinututukan siya ng firearms, tinatakot s’ya ng mga pampasabog,” sad Reglos.
(They suffered physical abuse, including her daughter. They are confined at a hospital. The wife revealed how she was abused. She mentioned that she had a gun pointed at her, and explosives were used to scare her.)
The suspect refused to comment and pointed to his lawyer.
“We don’t have any statement yet,” said Atty. Karlo Marcilla, the suspect’s lawyer.
He allegedly told the police that collecting guns was just his hobby.
“Naka-register sa kanya one firearms lang, wala pa dito. Base din po sa interview sa wife, ay nagbebenta rin po,” Reglos added.
(He only has one firearm registered, but that single weapon is not even here. Also, based on the interview with the wife, he sells them.)
The suspect will face several charges, including drug charges, as he was also allegedly caught with a sachet of suspected shabu.
The San Juan Police are still investigating if the suspect was connected to groups involved in gun
