Three out of the five members of the Manila Police District-Intelligence Operations Unit (MPD-IOU) allegedly involved in robbing and attempting to extort money from a computer shop owner in Sampaloc, Manila surrendered to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) on Monday.
The suspects surrendered to PAOCC Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz at Camp Crame in Quezon City, according to Sam Nielsen’s report on Super Radyo dzBB.
The PAOCC has yet to announce the identities of the suspects.
Last week, all 50 members of the MPD-IOU were relieved from their posts after five police officers were caught on CCTV robbing a computer shop and attempting to extort money from the owner.
Victim Hermenigildo Mateo said the armed suspects, who were in civilian clothing, entered his shop on Tuesday, July 11, and identified themselves as the police.
They accused him of running an illegal gambling den before cleaning out his drawer of P44,000 and demanded a weekly protection payment of P4,000.
The five cops did not show identification or a search warrant. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
