The Makati City government on Monday announced a citywide ban on drone operations throughout November as part of security measures for the Philippines’ hosting of the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

In a public advisory, the local government said the operation of drones and similar unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) would be strictly prohibited across the city for the entire month.

“This restriction aims to ensure smooth security and communications during the upcoming ASEAN 2026 events hosted in our city,” the Makati LGU said in a Facebook post.

The prohibition covers all barangays and public spaces in Makati, including recreational, commercial and media-related drone operations.

The city government said the measure was intended to ensure the safety and security of foreign heads of state, dignitaries, international delegates and residents during the high-level meetings and activities.

The Makati LGU urged drone owners, hobbyists and residents to cooperate and comply with the prohibition throughout November.

The Philippines will host the 49th ASEAN Summit from November 16 to 18.
