“Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence,” a six-part miniseries directed by Shugo Praico, took three of the four recognitions: Best Screenplay for Praico and Jonathan Guillermo; Best Cinematography for Moises M.M. Zee; and Best Editing for Lawrence S. Ang.
“Salvageland,” a feature film directed by Lino S. Cayetano, earned Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Mon Confiado.
The wins come as” Drug War” approaches its finale. Set against the Philippines’ deadly and deeply polarizing war on drugs, the series follows a priest, played by Ian Veneracion, and a conscience-stricken policewoman, played by Jane Oineza, as they investigate the death of his former protégé, portrayed by Harvey Bautista. Their investigation eventually unravels a wider conspiracy involving killings, silenced witnesses and erased evidence.
The series has drawn millions of views, with Episodes 1 through 5 now streaming on Rein Entertainment’s official YouTube channel.
