Following a viral post showing a police car with no plate number in Commonwealth, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that it has identified the vehicle and that an investigation is on the way.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Wednesday, PNP Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said that the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) has verified that the vehicle is duly registered.
“Nonetheless, its operation must comply with existing requirements governing vehicle identification and the proper display of license plates. The concerned unit and personnel have been identified, and an internal investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Nartatez said.
“Any violation or administrative lapse established by the investigation shall be addressed in accordance with existing PNP rules and due process,” he added.
While Nartatez did not specify the social media post, VISOR posted a contributed photo showing an apparent police car without a license plate plying Commonwealth.
The contributor asked if it was allowed for government or police vehicles to have no plate number.
Nisnisan said that she was genuinely asking, and she did not intend to shame anyone.
“The PNP appreciates the vigilance of the concerned citizen in bringing the matter to the attention of authorities for appropriate action,” Nartatez said.—Jean Mangaluz/LDF, GMA News
