Authorities arrested a suspected peeping tom in Malate, Manila after he was caught by female coworkers spying on them through a hidden spy camera in a shared bathroom of their staff house.

In the “24 Oras” report of Jhomer Apresto on Thursday, a CCTV video showed the male suspect seemed like he was casually vlogging but all the while he was setting up a spy camera that looked like a pen.

According to the administrator of the staff house, one of the female workers was taking a bath when she noticed a strange item inside the rest room.

Upon inspection, they found that the ballpen had a memory card. When the female workers inspected the contents of the memory card, they were shocked to find sensitive footage of two of the staff members.

The employees were immediately able to pinpoint the suspect, since he was seen in a video footage setting up the camera.

“Mabait po siya kaya hindi po namin siya nakitaan na may red flag na parang gagawin sa ‘min yun,” one of the staffers said.

(He was nice, we did not think that he would have any red flags that he would do that to us.)

The suspect has been working with them for eight months. One of the workers said that her colleagues were traumatized by what happened, as they saw themselves in the videos.

The staff members raised the matter to the authorities, and the suspect was subsequently arrested. Barangay Chair Bhong Navarro said that it was possible that the suspect had done this in the past.

According to Police Lt. Michael Olaer of the Malate Police Station, the suspect disclosed to them that the video was for his own use.

“Sinampahan po natin siya ng paglabag sa RA 9995 o yung Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009,” Olaer said.

(We filed a complaint of violating RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.)

The suspect declined to issue a statement. — Jean Mangaluz/BAP, GMA News
