A 69-year-old woman was found bloodied after a robber entered her house in Caloocan City and stabbed her repeatedly.
According to a 24 Oras report by Mariz Umali, the incident happened on Sunday night, when an intruder destroyed the locked door of the residence.
The perpetrator then repeatedly stabbed the woman, who was living alone inside her house.
However, the victim managed to call her kin using her phone.
“Nakatawag siya sa landline doon sa bahay ng kapatid ko. ‘Yun ang salita na hindi halos maintindihan. ‘Papuntahan ako dito,’ dalawang ulit daw po inulit. ‘Papuntahan ako dito,'” said the sister of the victim.
(She called my sibling’s house on the landline. Those were the words that were almost unrecognizable. ‘Please come here for me.’ She repeated it twice. ‘Please come for me.’)
Her two nephews found the woman extremely weak in the garage.
“Puro po dugo. Duguan, duguan. Magulo po ‘yung bahay. Maraming dugo sa lapag,” the sister of the victim said.
(The house was full of blood and in chaos. There was a lot of blood on the floor.)
It just so happened that police were patrolling near the area.
“Timing na timing, pagkakita nila sa kapatid ko, ayan na rin ‘yung patrol car. Madalian pong isinakay. Ang kapatid kong nabiktima, isinakay. Dahil ‘yung mga pulis po, sila ang naghatid na sa hospital,” the kin said.
(The timing was perfect. The police saw my relative and the patrol car arrived. They quickly carried her inside the car and took her to the hospital.)
The family expressed belief that the motive of the crime was theft.
“Hindi ko sasabihin na mayroong may galit sa kaniya kasi napakabait po niya. Matapos pong makapaglinis at tingnan kung anong mga nawawala, cellphone po at saka pera doon sa handbag niya. Ano po niyang pera is P25,000 po,” the victim’s sister said.
(I would not say it was a personal grudge, because she was very kind. After the house was cleaned, her cellphone and P25,000 cash inside her handbag were missing.)
Family members told GMA News that the police was able to retrieve the victim’s cellphone a few hours after the incident, leading them to a person of interest.
A flashlight and a knife, which were not owned by the victim, were also found at the crime scene.
Aside from the stab wounds, the victim also sustained bruises on the face, eyes, head, and mouth.
“Sumuko ka na, napakabait ng taong sinaktan mo,” the sister said.
(Surrender now. The person you injured was very kind.)
“Napakasakit. Dahil ito, trauma po sa pamilya, hindi lang sa kaniya,” she added.
(It was very painful. This caused trauma to our family, not just her.)
The victim continues to receive medical treatment at a hospital.
Investigators say they have obtained leads regarding the incident, while the manhunt operation continues for the suspect-at-large.
A worker at a nearby construction site is now considered a suspect, the 24 Oras report said. — VDV, GMA News
