THE city government and residents of Cagayan de Oro have officially commenced the celebration of the city’s annual Charter Day this morning, June 15, gathering at the historic Kiosko Kagawasan in Plaza Divisoria.
The commemorative events kicked off with a solemn Holy Mass, bringing together local officials, city hall employees and Kagay-anons in a spirit of gratitude and unity to honor the city’s founding.
The civic anniversary, which marks CDO’s transition into a chartered city by virtue of Republic Act No. 521, featured a lineup of public activities throughout the day, emphasizing community pride and ongoing local development.
Highlighting local economic resilience and grassroots progress, City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy reported a substantial economic surge during his State of the City Address (SOCA) delivered today in conjunction with the city’s 76th Charter Day celebration at Kiosko Kagawasan.
Foremost among the city’s economic milestones is a robust 12 percent increase in business name Registrations, a metric Mayor Uy emphasized as a clear indicator of restored investor confidence and a thriving local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The local chief executive underscored that these figures represent more than just government data, pointing out that the uptick in enterprise growth directly translates to sustainable employment opportunities for everyday individual workers and stable livelihoods for thousands of Kagay-anon families.
“Ang atong naabot sa miaging tuig nagpakita lamang sa maayong pagtimbayayong sa lokal ug nasyonal nga kagamhanan sa atong komunidad, mga partners ug matag usa nga Kagay-anon nga naay gikaambag sa kalamboan sa dakbayan,” Uy said. “Matag inisyatiba, matag proyekto ug dayag nga paglamnbo nagrepresentar kini sa atong matag lakang paingon sa usa ka lig-on, walay pagpihig ug naglantaw sa unahan.”
Uy also expressed his deep gratitude to the civil servants and personnel who worked well into the night to man the city’s Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS), ensuring seamless transactions for local entrepreneurs.
This dedicated, round-the-clock public service has yielded historic results, with Cagayan de Oro currently recording an impressive 25,957 business renewals.
And bolstering its commitment to bringing government services directly to the grassroots, the city government of Cagayan de Oro has recorded a massive milestone of over 75,000 clients served through its flagship Kuyog Ta sa Serbisyo sa Baryo program.
Uy proudly shared this achievement during his State of the City Address (SOCA) today, highlighting the convergence initiative as a resounding success in public service delivery.
Sharing his administration’s commitment to education, healthcare and grassroots social services, Uy also unveiled a lineup of flagship infrastructure developments and governance milestones.
Among the premier developments highlighted in the executive report is the massive P76.4 million Bulua National High School smart school Building, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with personal computers aimed at modernizing public education and elevating the digital literacy of young Kagay-anons.
Uy then reported significant strides in expanding local healthcare access, detailing the rapid progress of major hospital projects.
This includes the P117-million City Hospital Lumbia which is now nearing its final phases at 89 percent completion alongside another strategic P80-million City Hospital facility currently standing at 84.8 percent completion.
These medical institutions are expected to drastically improve localized, high-quality medical responses for families living across the city’s various barangays.
