PDP-Laban opens headquarters in Cagayan de Oro City

THE revived PDP-Laban chapter in Cagayan de Oro City under the able leadership of chairperson Councilor Joyleen Mercedes Balaba recently opened its local headquarters.

Balaba said the headquarters is strategically located along Tomas Saco street which is a gateway to residents from the first legislative district.

That’s because the PDP-Laban headquarters also acts as a recruitment hub for those who want to be a member of the reputable political party.

Being restricted under law to seek another term, Balaba kept mum about her political plans beyond 2028 but said that strengthening PDP-Laban is focusing on the imminent presidential bid of Vice President Sara Duterte that year.

But Balaba added that the party will also support members who will be running in the barangay elections in November and in local posts for 2028.

Cagayan de Oro City is significant in PDP-Laban’s history because it is here when then Mayor Aquilino Pimentel Jr. founded it.

It was the party that propelled in 2016 then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to the presidency.

Today it is being chaired by Duterte’s son Sebastian, the incumbent mayor of Davao City.

The occasion last June 12 – when the whole country celebrated Independence Day – was also attended by PDP-Laban chapter officers including Lapasan-based businessman Rudy Mediana.

“Ang akong presensya usa lamang ka yano apan tinuod nga pagpamatuod sa akong padayon ug walay pag-usab nga suporta ug gugma alang kang Tatay Digong, nga nahimong inspirasyon sa pagserbisyo sa katawhan,” Mediana said.
