A man was killed while doing laundry outside his home in Silverio Compound, Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City, with the attack captured on his Facebook livestream.
According to a report by Jhomer Apresto on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the suspect approached the victim and slit his throat before repeatedly stabbing him in the body. The incident happened on May 28.
The assailant briefly dropped the knife used in the initial attack but immediately pulled out another bladed weapon from his waist and continued stabbing the victim several times.
As seen in his Facebook livestream, the victim managed to stand and walk a few steps before collapsing to the ground.
“Pagtingin namin sa live, sir, doon talaga namin nakita. Grabe sobrang sakit. Wala siyang awa na sinaksak ‘yung pinsan ko, hindi talaga namin matanggap sir,” the victim’s cousin said.
(When we watched the livestream, sir, that’s where we really saw it. It hurts. He showed no mercy when he stabbed my cousin—we just can’t accept it.)
After the attack, the suspect fled the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and to locate the suspect.
The victim was declared dead as a result of the multiple stab wounds sustained during the attack.
While the autopsy report has not yet been released, according to the attending doctor, the victim died from a stab wound to his side that punctured his heart.
The Parañaque police tracked down and arrested the suspect on Monday in Barangay Singkamas, Makati City.
Based on their investigation, the victim and the suspect knew each other and had a previous unresolved dispute.
“Bago mag-New Year ng 2024, nagkapang-abot na ito kasi magkapitbahay ito eh, so malamang nagkakaparinigan at may mga insidente na hindi pa rin naayos,” Parañaque City Police Station Chief P/Col Nicolas Piñon said.
The police recovered the knife of the suspect at the crime scene. They are still verifying if the suspect has a prior criminal record and whether he was under the influence of illegal drugs.
While the suspect has yet to issue an official statement, his relatives admitted they are also clueless about the motive behind the crime.
“Handa naman po kaming magbigay kung ano po yung makakayanan namin, nakikiramay po kami kasi kilala naman namin yung tao,” a relative of the suspect said.
“Kumontak siya sa ‘kin para sabihin na susuko siya, tapos nag-inquire ako sa kakilalang pulis kung ano ‘yung tamang proseso tapos ayun ginuide namin siya,” she added.
