He said St. Francis built up the church by allowing his encounter with Jesus Christ to transform him and be close to the poor, marginalized, and all of God’s creation.
During the Dedication of the Church and Altar rites, Advincula sprinkles holy water on the people and the building, anoints the altar and walls with chrism oil, and recite a prayer of dedication.

Incense was burned on the altar, and the candles were lit before the lights of the church were turned on.
Several parishioners participated in the celebration and witness the rare event.
Speaking to GMA News Online, Parish priest Fr. Jefferson Agustin said the dedication serves as a reminder to its parishioners of their mission to spread the word of God.
“Yung dedication ay pagpapaalala ng binyag ng mga Kristiyanong Katoliko na napakahalaga na ang simbahan ay maging tanda ng pagmiminsyon ng bawat Kristiyanong Katoliko dahil tayo naman bilang mga Kristiyanong Katoliko ay sumusunod kay Kristo,” the priest said.
(The dedication serves as a reminder of the baptism of Catholic Christians, emphasizing the importance of the church as a sign of the mission of every Catholic Christian, which is to follow Jesus Christ.)
