CDO Gas Stations Cited for Overpricing

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MindaNews / 12 March) — Authorities have flagged nine gasoline stations here for alleged fuel price overpricing and premature price adjustments following inspections by the Department of Energy and the local monitoring board. The checks aim to ensure compliance with government pricing regulations and protect consumers from unfair practices.

Meanwhile, Camiguin Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo identified 19 gasoline stations on the island selling fuel above the DOE-set price range. Romualdo issued show-cause orders to the owners, demanding explanations to avoid suspension or revocation of their business permits.

Jose Edgardo Uy, chair of the Cagayan de Oro Regulatory Compliance Board, said the flagged stations will undergo further investigation for possible sanctions. Inspections revealed some stations selling diesel at ₱92 per liter and gasoline at ₱76 per liter. Three stations were also found operating without business permits or compliance certificates.
