MANILA – The Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) recently seized three abandoned inbound parcels containing suspected illegal drugs worth PHP29.71 million in Pasay.
In a statement Thursday, the agency said the illegal drugs were discovered during an interdiction operation on Monday.
The parcels contained 3,596 grams of white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, with an estimated street value of PHP24.45 million.
Authorities also seized about 4,046 grams of white powder suspected to be MDMA or ecstasy, valued at about PHP5.26 million.
Two parcels declared as “Garden Sculpture” were shipped from Berlin, Germany, and addressed to a recipient in Pasig.
Inspection found each parcel contained a gold figurine concealing heat-sealed plastic bags of suspected ecstasy weighing about 2,032 grams and 2,014 grams.
The third parcel, declared as “Vehicle Air Filters,” came from Lusaka, Zambia, and was consigned to a recipient in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Inspectors found four cylindrical air filters wrapped in carbon paper and masking tape containing about 3,596 grams of suspected shabu.
The seized substances will undergo qualitative and quantitative tests at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency laboratory as part of the investigation for possible violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. (PNA)
