Several youth groups on Wednesday staged another protest, calling for the dismissal of sedition and inciting to sedition complaints filed against youth leaders over the September 21, 2025 rallies.
The protesters marched to the Department of Justice (DOJ), carrying placards demanding an end to impunity and defending student and youth leaders facing criminal charges.
More than 200 individuals were arrested after chaos erupted during the September 21 protest against alleged corruption in anomalous flood control projects, police records showed.
In late January, an alleged bystander facing complaints for sedition and inciting to sedition filed a counter-affidavit before the DOJ.
In a statement, Kabataan party-list Representative Renee Co criticized the filing of charges against what she described as ordinary citizens.
(They are quick to go after ordinary people to intimidate them from speaking out, but slow to pursue the masterminds of the corrupt system and to impeach the leaders involved.)
Co said the group stands in solidarity with youth leaders facing the charges.
(It is never seditious or subversive to call for accountability from the real criminals in government. The youth are calling for the immediate dismissal of the cases.)—MCG, GMA Integrated News
