The Department of Human Settlements and Development (DHSUD) on Sunday turned over the first-ever horizontal housing units under the government’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program to beneficiaries in Occidental Mindoro.
The newly-completed housing units were under the Mamburao Ville Socialized Housing Project in Barangay Payompon, Mamburao.
The Mamburao Ville project sits on more than 41,000 square meters of land and consists of 415 house-and-lot units classified as socialized housing.
The development includes open spaces, parks and playgrounds, and an elevated water tank to support a healthy and sustainable community.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling hailed the turnover as a milestone after horizontal development or subdivision-type housing units were included in the Expanded 4PH seven months ago.
Previously, the 4PH was only focused on vertical or condominium-type housing projects.
Aliling said the horizontal housing project is a direct response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate the delivery of decent, affordable, and safe housing nationwide.
“Ito mismo ang utos ng Pangulong Marcos Jr., pabilisin at palawakin ang programa para sa kapakinabangan ng mas nakararaming pamilyang Pilipino,” he said in a statement.
(This was the instruction of President Marcos Jr., to expedite and expand the program for the benefit of more Filipino families.)
“Malinaw po ang hangarin ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., sa ilalim ng Expanded 4PH – hindi lamang bubong sa ulo ng ating mga kababayan ang ating hatid kung di maayos, ligtas, at makataong pamayanan para sa mas may dignidad na pamumuhay,” he added.
(President Marcos Jr.’s goal under the Expanded 4PH is clear – it is not just a roof over the heads of our countrymen, but decent and safe communities for a dignified way of life.)
Aliling also cited the strong collaboration of the government and the private sector in addressing the Philippines’ housing needs and advancing inclusive, sustainable housing projects.
“Sa tulong ng pribadong sektor at ng lokal na pamahalaan, mas napapalapit natin ang pangarap ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino – ang magkaroon ng sariling tahanan at isang marangal na pamumuhay,” he added.
