Two of the three suspects arrested in Novaliches, Quezon City for the double murder of a policewoman and her eight-year-old son were a couple who plotted to kill her and take her motor vehicle, trusted sources in the Philippine National Police (PNP) told GMA Integrated News.
The sources said the couple acted as agents for the sale of the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) of 38-year-old victim Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido.
The couple supposedly lured Mollenido to their home in Novaliches on January 16.
When authorities stormed the Novaliches residence on Friday night, they found the 29-year-old female suspect sitting on the sofa where the policewoman was shot in the head at close range, the sources said.
Ahead of the shooting, the couple allegedly covered the sofa with plastic to conceal their crime.
After the policewoman was killed, the suspects then turned to her 8-year-old son, John Ysmael, and suffocated him using a plastic bag.
The double murder took place while the couple’s baby was just in the next room.
The bodies of the police woman and her son were loaded to a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and dumped by an accomplice in Pulilan, Bulacan and Victoria, Tarlac, respectively.
The policewoman was found dead on January 24 in a creek in Pulilan with a gunshot wound to her head.
On Thursday, January 29, the boy’s body was recovered at a calamansi farm in Victoria. His father, Police Senior Master Sergeant John Mollenido, positively identified the boy’s body. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
