Tropical Storm “Ada” has prompted authorities to intensify monitoring and safety measures in several parts of the country, including Mindanao, due to rough seas, strong winds, and heavy rainfall threatening coastal and upland communities. The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao has placed its Duty Response Group on heightened alert, and warned fishermen and boat operators to exercise extreme caution due to high-risk rough sea conditions. As of January 16, Ada was located 485 kilometers east of Surigao City, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. The public is advised to remain vigilant, monitor official bulletins, and prioritize safety, especially in coastal and flood-prone communities, as Ada is expected to remain at tropical storm strength before possibly weakening into a tropical depression by Tuesday.
