San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corp. and its partners plan to develop over 2,670 megawatts of solar power projects in Luzon and Mindanao, aiming for completion between 2026 and 2029. The expansion, undertaken by its subsidiary SMC Global Light and Power Corp., seeks to reduce carbon footprint and accelerate the transition to cleaner energy sources. The initial phase includes projects in Bataan, Davao, Bulacan, and Isabela, chosen for their high photovoltaic potential, with plans to use N-type solar panels from regional suppliers. A 110-megawatt solar project in Mariveles, Bataan, is set to be completed in 2026, with the company having secured necessary approvals and designations, including being named an Energy Project of National Significance. Additional projects totaling 2,225 megawatts in Bulacan, Davao, and Isabela were awarded in the Green Energy Auction Program, with certificates of award expected by January 27, 2026. San Miguel Global Power will adopt a capital-light approach, leveraging synergies with other affiliates during construction to bring these projects to fruition.
