The Philippine Coast Guard has suspended sea travel for all vessels in Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Bucas Grande, and Siargao Island after storm signal no. 1 was raised in these areas on Friday morning. Authorities in Cagayan de Oro City and the Caraga region also halted classes and placed disaster relief teams on heightened alert for flash floods and landslides. According to Pagasa, tropical depression “Wilma” was located 235 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, with sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour, moving southwest as of 10:30 AM. The Coast Guard suspended travel between Balingoan in Misamis Oriental and Benoni in Camiguin, as well as between Surigao City and Dinagat and Siargao islands, instructing ship owners to secure their vessels. Cagayan de Oro Mayor Rolando Uy ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes in public and private schools, while the Surigao del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council advised local government units to impose localized class suspensions.
