97 lawmakers from Metro Manila and Mindanao have declared their full support to Speaker Faustino Dy III amid rumors of a brewing House coup. The 30 Metro Manila congressmen and the 67-member Mindanao bloc led by Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez issued separate statements praising Dy’s leadership, citing his “principled leadership, calm approach to governance and bold push for reforms.” The lawmakers praised Dy’s stand on the Anti-Dynasty bill, noting that his willingness to pursue it, even at the expense of his family members, sends a “powerful wake-up call to the members of Congress.” The Mindanao legislators said that in a time of “political divisions, economic uncertainty and declining public trust in institutions,” the House must be led by a Speaker whose “leadership is grounded in stability, continuity and the rule of law.” They also noted that Dy’s “calm but firm leadership” has fostered dialogue, reduced tensions and ensured that even during periods of political strain, the House remains focused on its constitutional mandate to serve the Filipino people. The statements of support came after the 39-member Northern Luzon Alliance and the 44-member Partylist Coalition Foundation issued a manifesto also declaring support to Dy.
