DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 4 December) — The Bucana Bridge, part of the Davao City Coastal Road, will open to traffic on December 15, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced during his inspection of the bridge on Thursday morning. The President highlighted that the 1.4-kilometer structure over the Davao River will significantly reduce travel time. The bridge is a component of the 17.33-kilometer Davao City Coastal Bypass Road project, stretching from Bago Aplaya to Jerome St. in Agdao. During the inspection, Marcos was accompanied by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Leo Magno, Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr., and Davao del Norte Rep. Jose Manuel Lagdameo. Marcos commended the bridge’s quality and rapid construction, expressing gratitude to the Chinese contractor, China Road and Bridge Corporation, for their modern technology. The ₱3.126-billion project, partly funded by China’s Official Development Assistance, connects Davao City’s eastern and western areas. While it will open on December 15, the road will initially extend only to Roxas Ave. The President assured that the entire Davao City Coastal Bypass Road will be completed by December 2027, promising improved traffic flow, especially during the holiday season.
