Typhoon Tino Makes Landfall: Latest Updates and Developments

Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi), the Philippines’ 20th tropical cyclone for 2025, is threatening the Visayas, portions of Mindanao, and several areas in Southern Luzon with moderate to torrential rain and strong to destructive winds. It has made landfall at least five times — in the provinces of Southern Leyte, Cebu, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, and Iloilo. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned the public to be on alert for hazards, including floods, landslides, and storm surges. Residents in affected areas have been evacuating, with over 15,000 taking shelter in evacuation centers in Cebu City alone. The typhoon has caused extensive damage, including to schools and homes, and has resulted in the deaths of six military personnel in a helicopter crash. The public is advised to stay informed and follow updates from PAGASA and local authorities.
