Remulla’s appointment has also led to the “resurrection” of former Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon, who dominated Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigations during his time as Senator. Gordon is now pushing for Ombudsman Remulla to revisit and conduct a new probe into the P47 billion Pharmally deal of the Duterte administration, which was marred by allegations of overpricing and involvement of Chinese nationals close to former President Duterte’s Economic Adviser, Michel Yang. The outcome of this potential new probe may strengthen suspicions that Remulla’s appointment is aimed at running after the former President and his allies, including Vice President Sara Duterte.
