Dimasalang Bridge southbound lane closed for 3-month rehab

Some commuters and public utility vehicle drivers expressed concerns over the closure of the southbound lane of the Dimasalang Bridge due to a three-month long rehabilitation.

According to Bea Pinlac’s Monday report on “Unang Balita,” some commuters were unaware that a part of the bridge had already been closed for rehabilitation since 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Motorists who attempted to use the bridge’s southbound lane were prevented from doing so and instead directed to alternative routes.

Meanwhile, some jeepney drivers said the bridge’s partial closure may affect their income since they would need to ply longer routes, which may lessen the number of round trips they could take.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways, the rehabilitation, aimed to strengthen the bridge’s load capacity, is expected to be completed on December 15 this year.

Meanwhile, the Manila Public Information Office announced the following alternative routes for those going to the following destinations using the Dimasalang Bridge:

  • A. Bonifacio Avenue
  • North Cemetery
  • Chinese General Hospital
  • LRT Abad Santos
  • LRT Avenida
